REPORT OF THE <br />COMMITTEE ON PUBLIC SAFETY AND PARKS AND RECREATION <br />DATE: February 18, 2009 Re: Comm. 123 <br />PLACE: Sheraton Keauhou Bay Resort & Spa (Bi1128) <br />78-128 Ehukai Street <br />Kailua-Kona, Hawaii <br />TIME: 9:30 a.m. <br />Council Chair and Members <br />Hawaii County Council <br />Hilo, Hawaii 96720 <br />Your Committee on Public Safety and Parks and Recreation, to which was referred <br />Communication 123 (Bill 28), reports as follows: <br />An Ordinance designating TMK (3) 4-8-004:006 as the "Waipi`o Community Park," <br />pursuant to Chapter 15, Article 8, Section 15-67 of the Hawaii County Code 1983 (2005 <br />Edition, as amended); and amending Chapter 15, Article 8, Section 15-68.1 of the <br />Hawaii County Code 1983 (2005 Edition, as amended), to add the "Waipi`o Community <br />Park" to the Parks and Recreational Facilities schedule, from Councilmember Dominic <br />Yagong, dated January 30, 2009. <br />Mr. Yagong reported on the current and proposed condition of the property. He added <br />that this would formally add the property to the Hilo/Hamakua parks and recreational <br />facilities schedule for caretaking and maintenance; and in addition to County workers, a <br />volunteer community group is standing by ready to begin the clean up of the parcel and <br />preparation for its use. <br />Councilmember Emily Naeole expressed her full support of this bill. <br />PSPRC Report No. 3 <br />
