Yamashiro, dated December 10, <br /> 1997, submitting for confirmation the following <br /> appointment to the Hawaii County Police Commission: <br /> Wilfred M. Okabe of Council District 3, to <br /> replace Donald E. Abdul, whose term will ezpire <br /> on December 31, 1997. Mr. Okabe has been a <br /> teacher with the State Department of Education <br /> since 1984. He is not affiliated with any <br /> political party. If approved, he will serve a <br /> term to end on December 31, 2002. <br /> <br /> Comm. 638: APPOINTMENT OF ALBERTA H. LINDSAY TO THE HAWAII COUNTY <br /> PENSION BOARD <br /> From Mayor Stephen K. Yamashiro, dated December 15, <br /> 1997, submitting for confirmation the following <br /> appointment to the Hawaii County Pension Board: <br /> Alberta H. Kiriu, dated <br /> December 9, 1997, transmitting for approval the above <br /> report prepared by Deloitte and Touche. This report <br /> satisfies the requirement of Section 10-13, Hawaii <br /> County Charter, relating to the responsibility of the <br /> Council to conduct an annual independent audit of <br /> accounts and other evidences of financial transactions <br /> of the County and of every county agency and executive <br /> agency. <br /> Recommendations include the potential for significant <br /> problems adjusting the County's computer system for the <br /> year 2000; consideration of an internal audit function; <br /> and the need to improve the collection of past due <br /> sewer and landfill receiveable accounts. <br /> <br />
