learned. This to be done during Pre shift Watch briefings. A synopsis and attendance log of the
In Service Training will then be submitted to OHA for your review and information.
Continued training of new officers into the Bicycle Patrol program must be done to
ensure the sustainability of the Bicycle Patrol. This will be done by using available resources
identified by the Hawaii County Police Department ensuring that the training will meet HCPD
requirements and standards for police officer participation in the Bicycle Patrol program. Once a
training program is identified and approved by the Police Chief of HCPD a course description,
attendee list and course related costs and fees will be provided to OHA. In the past we have been
able to train seven officers for Bicycle Patrol for a total cost of one thousand dollars. Trainings
will commence as soon as possible and will continue until available funds are used.
As mentioned earlier the bikes currently used are ten years old and in deteriorating
condition. Again to ensure a sustainable Bicycle Patrol program we will need to procure new
bikes and have a budget for their maintenance. Items like tires, tubes, brake pads est. will be
needed over time. Also include in this budget item is the refurbishing of existing bikes. Uniforms
and Duty belts are other items required for Bicycle Patrol. By providing funding for these items
OHA will be giving invaluable support to the Bicycle Patrol currently unavailable from other
sources. All procurements made from this part of the grant budget will be reported to OHA in the
form of receipts and requisition forms.
Budget Matrix
Description OHA Funded In Kind Total
1.
