following is a rough idea of what can be expected from budget. Attached with this proposal are
past procurements and are only intended to give a rough idea of expenses.
Traininas and Scholarships: Eight officers to attend trainings and or receive scholarships
to conferences.
Bike Patrol Training: Thirty officers, receiving forty hours of bike patrol training.
New Patrol Bikes: Six new bikes.
Refurbishment of existin bg ikes: Five bikes
Uniforms and Dutv Belts: Uniforms and duty gear to outfit ten officers.
Funding Information
Funding of this proposal will be accepted by The Hawaii County Counsel by resolution
then given to the Hawaii County Police Department for fiscal administration.
Expenditure of grant funds will be determined and approved as stated in the Project Plan.
The Hawaii County Police Department will then report back to OHA on those disbursements via
receipts and requisition forms.
The funds provided by OHA will directly benefit those with Hawaiian ancestry by
supporting the continuation of the Bicycle Patrol in areas predominantly comprised of Hawaiians
and their children.
Evaluation and Reporting
The success of the Bicycle Patrol will be measured and reported in several ways, community
satisfaction being the primary. This will be measured in two ways:
1. A written survey will be given to residents of the Keaukaha Hawaiian Homelands and
Beach area to complete. The survey will reflect community satisfaction, perception and
effectiveness of Bicycle Patrol. This survey will be administered by the Community
Policing Section twice over a twelve month period. Results will then be forwarded to
OHA for evaluation and review.
2. Miscellaneous Service records (MP's) will be generated by Bicycle Patrol Officers via
our Records Management System (RMS) to document non criminal contacts the officers
have with community members while on Bicycle Patrol. MP's to reflect what type of
contact was made, with whom and the disposition. The MP's are then to be reviewed
