SECTION 10. Section 5-2.8.1.(a) of the Hawaii County Code 1983 (1995 Edition) relating <br /> to Building Envelope (Scope) is hereby amended to read as follows: <br /> "(a) The requirements of Lhis division apply to all buildings or portions of buffdings <br /> which provide shelter or facilities for human occupancy unless exempted by <br /> section 5-2.2.2 or section 5-2.2.3. The requirements apply to new buildings and <br /> to additions which increase the floor space of existing buildings. These <br /> requirements also apply to shell or speculative buildings and to warehouses that <br /> are converted to use as facilities or shelter for human occ~ancy if the buildinK <br /> was permitted after November 23, 1994." <br /> SECTION 11. Section 5-2.8.4.(d) of the Hawaii County Code 1983 (1995 Edition) relating <br /> to Prescriptive Criteria is hereby amended to read as follows: <br /> "(d) Horizontal Glazing (Skylights). <br /> (1) The horizontal projection of skylight area shall be limited to a maximum <br /> fraction of the horizontal projection of roof area which is specified by the <br /> following equation: <br /> A = 0.025 / SC Equation 8-9 <br /> Where: <br /> A =Maximum allowed skylight area measured as the skylight's <br /> horizontal projection. Expressed as a fraction of the horizontal <br /> projection of roof area. Shall be less than or equal to 0.15. <br /> SC =Shading coefficient of skylight; may be from manufacturer's <br /> literature. <br /> (2) Exceptions. <br /> Low-rise residential buildings that are not air-conditioned or those in <br /> locations with greater than eight hundred heating degree days (base <br /> sixty-five degrees Fahrenheit) or with elevation greater than two <br /> thousand five hundred feet above sea level (where degree day data are <br /> not available). <br /> u Residential buildings, R-3 occupancy," <br /> <br /> SECTION 12. Section 5-2.9.3.(a) of the Hawaii County Code 1983 (1995 Edition) relating <br /> to Basic Requirements for Heating, Ventilating and Air-Conditioning (HVAC) Sytems is <br /> <br /> hereby amended to read as follows: <br /> "Section 5-2.9.3. Basic requirements. <br /> (a) Load Calculations. <br /> (1) Calculation Procedures. <br /> u Cooling system design loads for the purpose of sizing systems and <br /> equipment shall be determined in accordance with the procedures <br /> described in the ASHRAE Handbook, 1989 Fundamentals or a similar <br /> computation procedure. For those design parameters addressed in <br /> subdivisions (2) through (9), the values specified shall be used. <br /> 12 <br /> <br />
