The monies will be used toward implementing their application, entitled: <br />EDH 2025: Action Plan Update -Sustainable Design Guidelines for Downtown Hilo. This project <br />continues to build upon the recent engagement of Downtown Hilo stakeholders in a Sustainable <br />Design Assessment Team (SDAT) Program awarded by the American Institute of Architects (AIA) <br />earlier this year. The AIA SDAT Program provided initial recommendations that can be <br />incorporated into the Action Plan and in developing design-related strategies and actions for <br />Downtown Hilo. <br />The County was awarded $3,000 from the Group 70 Foundation Fund of the Hawaii Coummnity <br />Foundation that will supplement previous funding from the County Council discretionary fund and <br />the Planning Department's operating budget. In this upcoming year, the Planning Department and <br />the VisionKeepers will work with Lead Partners and stakeholders to 1) conduct the 5-year update <br />of the EDH 2025 Action Plan; 2) incorporate and translate design components of the Vision and <br />Action Plan into the current Downtown Hilo Commercial (CDH) District in the County Zoning Cade; <br />and 3) create a Vision Base Map that compliments the EDH 2025 Plan and the design elements <br />within the CDH District in the Zoning Code. <br />Enclosed is a resolution accepting a contribution of $3,000 from the Hawaii Community <br />Foundation, 1164 Bishop Street, Suite 800, Honolulu, HI 96813. <br />Also enclosed is a bill for an ordinance amending the Operating Budget by appropriating $3,000 to <br />the Envision Downtown Hilo 2025 (EDH 2025) -Action Plan Update account. <br />If there are any questions, please do not hesitate to call the Planning Department at 961-8133. <br />Nancy .Crawford <br />Director of Finance <br />Enc. <br />cc: Planning <br />~Res• ~-1-09 ~3'~ ~, ~~~ Hawaii County is an Equal Opportunity Provider and Employer <br />Comm. t~€c ~~~ <br />Ref.
