<br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> Mtv a~ M~K <br /> <br /> COUNTY OF HAWAII STATE OF HAWAII <br /> BILL NO. 140 <br /> •60;,... <br /> ORDINANCE NO. <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> AN ORDINANCE AMENDING CHAPTER 24 OF THE HAWAII COUNTY CODE 1983 <br /> (2005 EDITION, AS AMENDED), RELATING TO VEHICLES AND TRAFFIC. <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF HAWAII: <br /> <br /> SECTION 1. Purpose. To reduce the speed limit in certain school zones to minimize <br /> <br /> risk to school children. <br /> <br /> SECTION 2. Chapter 24, article 7, division 2, section 24-149 (Maximum speed limit), of <br /> <br /> the Hawaii County Code 1983 (2005 Edition, as amended), is amended by having the following <br /> <br /> inserted and the subsequent subsections renumbered appropriately: <br /> <br /> "O Twenty miles per hour. <br /> In any school zone, the beginning of which is demarcated by a <br /> school speed limit sign supplemented with a flashing speed limit <br /> sign beacon and the end of which is demarcated by an end school <br /> zone or standard speed limit sign." <br /> <br /> SECTION 3. Material to be repealed is bracketed and stricken. New material is <br /> <br /> underscored. In printing this ordinance, the brackets, bracketed material and stricken material <br /> <br /> and underscoring need not be included. <br /> <br /> SECTION 4. If any provision of this ordinance, or the application thereof to any person <br /> <br /> or circumstance, is held invalid, such invalidity shall not affect other provisions or applications <br /> <br /> of the ordinance which can be given effect without the invalid provision or application, and to <br /> <br /> this end, the provisions of this ordinance are declared to be severable. <br />
