Kalanikoa Street has a right-of-way of 60 feet, but no curb, <br />gutter and sidewalk along this section of the street. There is a 4-way stop on the <br />intersection of Kuawa Street and Kalanikoa Street. <br /> <br />The Department of Public Works states that the existing driveway along Kuawa <br />Street is located too close (approximately 20 feet) from the intersection ofKuawa and <br />Kalanikoa Street. As such, DPW recommends the existing driveway be removed and <br />replaced with concrete curb and sidewalk in conformance with Chapter 22 of the Hawai'i <br />County Code, which requires a minimum distance of75 feet from the intersection. A <br />condition of approval will be added to reflect the DPW's recommendation. <br /> <br />County water is available to the site. The property is connected to the County <br />sewer line. If required, a Solid Waste Management Plan will be prepared. Electricity and <br />telephone services are available to the site. <br /> <br />The property has no severe geological or topographical problems which call1iot be <br />rectified or which would render the land unusable. The project site is located within Zone <br />"X", area detemlined to be outside the 500-year floodplain. As the site is already fully <br />developed, no professional surveys were conducted of the site. However, the applicant <br />has stated that should any archaeological features or sites be discovered during the <br />development of this project, work will immediately cease and the applicant will notify the <br />Planning DepaJiment. By letter dated July 23,2009, the applicant requested a letter of no <br />effect from the Department of Land and Natural Resources Historic Preservation <br />Division. <br /> <br />No professional flora or fauna surveys were conducted of the site. However, as <br />the site is fully developed, no rare or endangered floral orfaunal resources are likely to be <br />found on the site. The property is located in an urban setting adjacent to the airport and <br />aviation related uses, as well as commercial and industrial uses. <br />
