<br />November 23,2009 <br />Page 2 of2 <br /> <br />needs will be alleviated by providing public transportation at no <br />cost to the user. <br />(2) The County of Hawai'i shall be designated a transportation k6kua <br />zone. Riders boarding and alighting any regularly scheduled bus <br />route operated by the County of Hawai'i or its designee shall ride <br />free of charge. <br />(3) The transportation k6kua zone shall not apply to County contracted <br />shared-ride taxi services, County operated curb to curb van <br />services, or County operated non-scheduled bus services. <br />(4) The County wide transportation k6kua zone shall terminate on <br />[December 31,2010.] June 30. 2011. <br />(5) Within one year of the k6kua zone's effective date, and again not <br />later than ninety days prior to [December 31,2010,] June 30. <br />2011, the transit administrator shall report to the Hawai'i County <br />council on the impact of its implementation." <br /> <br />A draft copy of Bill 168, Draft 2, is attached with the proposed amendment incorporated therein. <br />Ramseyer format is applied with respect to the contents of the Hawai'i County Code; bolding <br />retained for illustrative purposes only. <br /> <br />BJF/dkr <br />art. <br />
