<br />.., <br /> <br />already been disturbed, an archaeological inventory survey of the site was not conducted. <br />When the property was rezoned in 2003, the Department of Land and Natural Resources- <br />Historic Preservation Division stated that no historic properties will be affected by the <br />project. <br />14. Flora/Faunal Resources: Although there were no professional flora or fauna surveys <br />conducted of the site, the applicant does not believe that rare or endangered floral and <br />faunal resources are likely to be found within the project site. The site has been <br />extensively cleared, as it was used formerly for sugar cane and later as a cattle-holding <br />pen. A good portion of the site has also been developed with structures and other <br />improvements. The site is not known to be a habitat for any rare or endangered animal <br />life. <br />15. Cultural Resources: There is no evidence of any traditional and customary Native <br />Hawaiian rights being practiced on the site, nor existence of any known valued cultural, <br />historical or native resources in the area. <br />16. Public Access: There is no record of a designated public access to the shoreline or <br />mountain areas traversing the property. <br />PUBLIC SERVICES AND FACILITIES <br />17. Access: Access to the project site will be from the Kea'au-Pahoa Bypass onto a frontage <br />road, formerly known as the Old Volcano Highway. The Old Volcano Highway connects <br />to Slaughterhouse Road (a private road), approximately one mile from the Bypass. Both <br />the Highway and the Road have a pavement width of20 feet within a 50-foot wide right- <br />of-way. Slaughterhouse Road tapers near the entrance to the project site to a pavement <br />width of 20 feet. <br />18. Water: According to the applicant, water can be made available from a 6-inch waterline <br />fronting the site. <br />19. Wastewater: There is no municipal wastewater system in the area. According to the <br />applicant, an enhanced septic system meeting with the requirements of the Department of <br />Health will be required. The system will be constructed in conjunction with the issuance <br />of a building permit for the proposed brewery. <br />20. Other Utilities/Services: Electricity and telephone are available to the site. Police, fire <br /> <br />-3- <br />
