WHEREAS, the construction of the Ane Keohokalole Highway will create an additional <br /> corridor for transmission of R -1 treated water for irrigation use; and <br /> WHEREAS, construction projects of this type will create jobs, increase tax revenue, <br /> reduce unemployment, encourage the development of smart- growth communities, reduce the <br /> strain on our natural resources, and improve long -term quality of life in Kona; and <br /> WHEREAS, American Recovery and Reinvestment Act monies and upcoming Federal <br /> budgets and appropriations may be available for this category of use; and <br /> WHEREAS, other State and Federal moneys are being applied for at this time that may <br /> benefit Kona, therefore timing is critical; now, therefore, <br /> BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF HAWAII that it <br /> supports and encourages the expeditious completion of projects that will provide for improved or <br /> newly- established water, sewer, and solid waste infrastructure to serve the Keahuolu and <br /> Kealakehe region. <br /> BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that all environmental and cultural concerns be <br /> addressed as part and parcel of this effort. <br /> BE IT FINALLY RESOLVED that the County Clerk shall forward copies of this <br /> resolution to the Honorable Mayor William Kenoi, the Director of Department of Environmental <br /> Management, the Director of the Department of Finance, the Director of the Department of <br /> Planning, and the Director of the Department of Public Works. <br /> Dated at Kona , Hawai`i, this 18th day of February , 2010. <br /> INT" f II ti P B ,. <br /> f <br /> it �i ; ' <br /> OUNCI M 1 # r1 :...'
