These monies, derived <br /> from federal funds, were awarded by the Alcohol and Drug Abuse Division of the State of <br /> Hawai'i Department of Health. The County had previously received an award of $315,950 <br /> for Phase I of this program and it was intended for the assessment, capacity building, and <br /> planning of evidence based underage drinking prevention activities in Hawaii County. The <br /> funding for Phase II will implement and evaluate these activities. <br /> In.anticipation of getting this grant, $750,000 was budgeted in this fiscal year's budget <br /> (much less than what was awarded). However, the monies from Phase 1 & 11 were <br /> grouped together when they were transferred from the Prosecutor's Office to the Office of <br /> Management (by Resolution No. 246 -09). To better distinguish the funding between the <br /> first and second phase of this project, enclosed is a bill for an ordinance amending the <br /> operating budget. It separates the funds by decreasing the current year's appropriation of <br /> $750,000 from the original set of accounts (3308.23 & 5111.67) and appropriates the total <br /> amount of the Phase II grant into new account numbers. <br /> If there are any questions, please do not hesitate to call SPF -SIG Project Coordinator Kalani <br /> Kahalioumi at 961 -8860. <br /> a1\14 ancy �' �( <br /> 14 1 .
