REQUEST: <br />DEPARTMENT OF FINANCE <br />REQUEST FOR COUNCIL ACTION <br />To enter into a multi -year acknowledgment for three (3) years with Hawaiian Telcom to provide for the <br />Wireless E911 system connectivity services, repair and maintenance for the department PSAP dispatcher <br />positions. <br />Need to be processed before the end of the fiscal year. Requesting to bypass Finance committee. <br />B. BACKGROUND AND JUSTIFICATION (USE ADDITIONAL SHEETS AS NEEDED): <br />Hawaiian Telcom has been providing services to the department for the Wireless E911 system The <br />connectivitity allows the dispatcher PSAP positions to review information pertaining to the caller. The <br />Wireless E911 system is very critical for public safety. Hawaiian Telcom's acknowledgement includes <br />immediate response to the department for repairs on the system. <br />This acknowlegement will guarantee the cost of $2,315 per PSAP position (11 positions) or $25,465 per <br />month for the 3 years. Hawaiian Telcom states that this is just an acknowledgment of the rate and that the <br />department will not incur any early termination or cancellation charges. <br />The Public Utilities Commission (PUC) governs this services under Tarrif 20, Section 10.4.3.
