These <br /> funds, derived from the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009 (ARRA), <br /> will be used to expand the CDSMP workshops to Kohala and Hamakua. The CDSMP is <br /> an evidenced -based prevention program that closely replicates a specific intervention that <br /> has been tested through randomly controlled experiments with published results. <br /> Enclosed is a resolution to authorize the Mayor to enter into an agreement with the State of <br /> Hawaii Department of Health. <br /> Also enclosed is a bill for an ordinance amending the Operating Budget by appropriating the <br /> $25,496 into the Chronic Disease Self Management Program — ARRA account. <br /> Since the Office of Aging has to contract out these funds and with a need to expend the <br /> monies by March 30, 2011, they are requesting for a waiver from the Finance Committee and <br /> to have the resolution and bill heard at the October 6, 2010 Council meeting. <br /> If there are any questions, please do not hesitate to call the Office of Aging. <br /> ,,Nancy E.
