The <br /> HCCDA recognizes that supporting HDHO activities benefits all Big Island residents and <br /> developing strong partnerships can only improve emergency response by both agencies. The <br /> current support of HDHO includes the storing of HDHO emergency supplies in the HCCDA <br /> warehouse. <br /> The vehicles were identified for purchase with 2008 Homeland Security Grant (HSG) funds for <br /> use by HDHO when it was recognized that while HCCDA supported the storage of HDHO <br /> emergency supplies, HDHO had very limited capacity to transport supplies to where they <br /> would be necessary. As HCCDA is the local agency responsible for the distribution of HSG <br /> funding in Hawai'i County and current HSG rules do not allow local state agencies to apply <br /> directly for funding, HCCDA facilitated the purchase of the vehicles to HDHO. <br /> Enclosed is a resolution authorzing the Mayor to enter into an agreement with the State of <br /> Hawaii Department of Health for the purchase and transfer of the three vehicles. <br /> If there are any questions, please do not hesitate to call the Civil Defense Agency. <br /> W it14 - 1 / <br /> Nancy E.
