V OF of <br /> COUNTY OF HAWAII STATE OF HAWAII <br /> BILL NO. 45 <br /> ORDINANCE NO. <br /> AN ORDINANCE AMENDING CHAPTER 2, ARTICLE 16, SECTION 2-101.1 OF THE <br /> HAWAII COUNTY CODE 1983 (2005 EDITION, AS AMENDED), RELATING TO <br /> MILEAGE AND MEAL REIMBURSEMENTS FOR VOLUNTEER POLICE PERSONNEL. <br /> BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF HAWAII: <br /> SECTION 1. Purpose. To amend Section 2-101.1, Mileage and meal reimbursements <br /> for volunteer police personnel, of the Hawaii County Code. The amendment of this section will <br /> allow for the practice of providing meal allowances for volunteer police personnel who travel <br /> beyond the district adjacent to their usual place of work and have working hours that extend <br /> across normal meal times. <br /> SECTION 2. Chapter 2, article 16, section 2-101.1, Hawaii County Code 1983 (2005 <br /> edition, as amended), is amended to read as follows: <br /> "Section 2-101.1. Mileage and meal reimbursements for volunteer police personnel. <br /> (a) All duly authorized volunteer police personnel, including but not limited to reserve <br /> police officers and police chaplains, shall be reimbursed at such rates prescribed by, <br /> and subject to, the requirements set forth in section 2-101(b), for each mile actually <br /> and necessarily traveled in the performance of their assigned duties. [Meal <br /> allowanees shall also be available t6--sueh=volunteer- personnel a4 eh rates <br /> pr—eser-ibe by, and subjeet tom the requirements setf9i4h in seetion 2 96.] <br /> (b) Except as modified by subsection (b) of section 2-98, meal allowance (including tax <br /> and tips) for non-overnight travel (not covered by collective bargaining agreements) <br /> shall not exceed the following rates: <br /> Breakfast..................................................................................................................$ 5 <br /> Lunch..........................................................................................................................8 <br /> Dinner.......................................................................................................................15 <br /> Breakfast will be allowed when travel time begins before 6:00 a.m. Lunch will be <br /> allowed for travelers when travel time begins before 11:00 a.m. and ends after 1:00 <br /> p.m. Dinner will be allowed for travelers when travel time begins before 6:00 p.m. <br /> and ends after 8:00 p.m. <br />
