Both items of legislation provide for the planning, funding, implementation, and construction of a new gymnasium at Hualani Pazk in Keaukaha. Hualani Pazk is a County-run facility, which is extensively used by children and adults from Keaukaha, as well as other communities, for football, baseball, softball, t-ball, track, and numerous other games and activities. It is a park well used. Kawananakoa Hall is another facility at Hualani Park. It's been used as a basketball court, volleyball court, for judo training, aerobic exercises, community meetings, community dances, County-sponsored programs, and many, many, more programs. The Hall, however, is just a hall, it is not a gym. Only one activity can take place at a time, because there is just not enough room to run more than one. The usage of this facility is very high, but it is just too small to _ accommodate the amoum of people who wish to utilize it. We need agym-one that can accommodate many different activities at once, that has adequate room to allow for league games to be hosted here, and for spectators to be able to attend. We need a gym. There is much that can be done in our community, for our residents, as well as the many who come to use the park, and we respectfully request your support of Resolution 11-97 and Bill 2. Thank you.
