Sako <br />Deputy Director <br />Re: Acquisition of 3 parcels of land at Kaiholena, North Kohala, Island of Hawaii, <br />Tax Map Key(s): 5 -8- 01:21, 5 -8 -01:22 and access parcel 5 -8 -01:25 <br />The Hawaii County Public Access, Open Space and Natural Resources Preservation Commission <br />cited Kaiholena as a site where there are "Lands or property entitlements with high public interest, <br />imminent needs for acquisition, and largest benefit to the general public." Resolution No. 644 -08, <br />passed by the County Council on June 3, 2008, authorized the Director of Finance to enter into <br />negotiations for acquisition of the subject parcels of land in the area collectively known as <br />Kaiholena, in the District of North Kohala. <br />On September 16, 2010, the County of Hawaii, applied for funding by grant from the State of <br />Hawai'i, Department of Land and Natural Resources, Legacy Land Conservation Commission, for <br />the acquisition of Kaiholena, Tax Map Key parcels 5 -8- 01:21, 22 and access Parcel 25 comprising <br />of 76.615 acres.
