No. 448 /Res. 186-11 <br /> PLACE: Council Chambers <br /> Hilo, Hawai`i <br /> TIME: 8:01 a.m. <br /> Council Chair and Members <br /> Hawai`i County Council <br /> Hilo, Hawai`i 96720 <br /> Your Committee on Public Works and Parks and Recreation, to which was referred Resolution No. <br /> 186-11, reports as follows: <br /> Resolution No. 186-11, from Public Works Director Warren W. H. Lee, transmitted via Communication <br /> No. 448, dated October 25, 2011, granting a variance from Chapter 3, Section 3-58 (a)(5)(B), 3-58 (c) <br /> and 3-59 (a)(5) of the Hawai`i County Code (1983) 2005 Edition. <br /> The applicant is requesting a sign variance for two (2) wall signs. The proposed signs are 147.78 square <br /> feet in area with a 66-inch symbol. The maximum allowable letter and/or symbol is nine inches per <br /> Section 3-58 (c), Chapter 3, Hawai`i County Code. The business is located in CG-20 zone which limits <br /> the wall sign to nine feet in height per Section 3-59(a)(4), Chapter 3, Hawai`i County Code. <br /> The applicant was represented by Mr. John Yates, Manager of the Kona Wal-Mart.
