BACKGROUND AND JUSTIFICATION (USE ADDITIONAL SHEETS AS NEEDED): <br /> The U.S. Department of Agriculture, Rural Development has approved the federal funded grant for the <br /> purchase of desktop and laptop computer equipment for a total of$35,200. The grant funds will allow the <br /> Hawai'i Fire Department, Emergency Medical Services (EMS) Bureau to update current desktop and laptop <br /> computers. EMS personnel depend a great deal on electronic documentation on each of the 18,000 plus <br /> medical and fire alarms each year. Many of the existing computers were purchased in 2006 and are now <br /> obsolete.
