REQUEST: <br /> Prepare County Council submittal authorizing the abandonment and sale of that certain remnant parcel <br /> known as the old chlorinaor site tax map key (3) 4-8-007:030 situated at Kukuihalele, District of Hamakua to <br /> Spencer Jackson. <br /> B. BACKGROUND AND JUSTIFICATION (USE ADDITIONAL SHEETS AS NEEDED): <br /> The County of Hawaii owns a parcel of land located in Kukuihaele, District of North Hamakua, identified by <br /> Tax Map Key (3) 4-8-007-030 known as the Old Chlorinator Site. This parcel is no longer used by the <br /> County of Hawaii and County Departments have no intent to use this site. Furthermore, the County has <br /> determined that this parcel is economically and physically unsuitable or undesirable for development or <br /> utilization due to its size, shape, and location which by definition, is considered as a remnant in accordance <br /> with Section 2-110 of the Hawaii County Code. <br /> Spencer D. Jackson recently acquired parcel (3) 4-8-007-032, which surrounds parcel 30 on three sides. He has <br /> expressed interest to acquire this County parcel, which has an appraised value of$3,100.00. Pursuant to <br /> HCC Section 2-118, remnants may be disposed of without recourse to public auction if offered first to the <br /> abutting landowner.
