REQUEST: <br /> Requesting a bill for an ordinance to appropriate $1,521,232 for the Program Year(PY) 2013 Workforce <br /> Investment Act (WIA)to fund the following activities: <br /> Administration/Planning ($152,121) <br /> Adult Program ($495,316) <br /> Dislocated Worker Program ($405,276) <br /> Youth Program ($468,519) <br /> B. BACKGROUND AND JUSTIFICATION (USE ADDITIONAL SHEETS AS NEEDED): <br /> This appropriation reflects funding allocations received by the Department of Labor and Industrial Relations <br /> for the PY13 WIA program. These funds will be utilized to assist adults, dislocated workers and youth by <br /> providing services that will train individuals to increase employment, retention, earnings, skills and literacy <br /> and thereby improving the quality of the workforce, reducing welfare dependency and enhancing the <br /> productivity and competiveness of the local economy. <br /> The Office of Housing and Community Development (OHCD) request that this ordinance be waived to the <br /> Council meeting on May 15, 2013 as we need to execute the service providers contract, for PY13 WIA <br /> program funds, by June 30, 2013.
