AN ORDINANCE AMENDING CHAPTER 2, ARTICLE 4, OF THE HAWAII COUNTY <br /> CODE 1983 (2016 EDITION,AS AMENDED), BY ADDING A NEW SECTION <br /> RELATING TO TEMPORARY POSITIONS. <br /> BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF HAWAII: <br /> SECTION 1. Chapter 2, Article 4, of the Hawai`i County Code 1983 (2016 Edition, as <br /> amended) is amended by adding a new section to be appropriately designated and to read as <br /> follows: <br /> "Section 2- . Temporary positions; notification to the council. <br /> (a) The director of human resources shall notify the council about any person <br /> employed under a contract for less than ninety days if: <br /> (1) The salary is $2,500 or more per month; and <br /> (2) The temporary position is unrelated to a state of emergency declaration. <br /> (b) A quarterly report shall be submitted and placed on the council committee <br /> agenda designated to handle matters of finance. The report shall contain the <br /> contractor's name,the duration of the contract,the cost of the contract, and <br /> the service to be performed." <br /> SECTION 2. New material is underscored. In printing this ordinance,the <br /> underscoring need not be included. <br /> SECTION 3. Severability. If any provision of this ordinance, or the application <br /> thereof to any person or circumstance, is held invalid,the invalidity does not affect other <br /> provisions or applications of the ordinance which can be given effect without the invalid <br /> provision or application, and to this end the provisions of this ordinance are severable. <br /> SECTION 4. This ordinance shall take effect upon approval. <br /> 3 <br />
