No. 290-17 <br /> PLACE: Council Chambers <br /> Kailua-Kona, Hawai`i <br /> TIME: 2:25 p.m. <br /> Council Chair and Members <br /> Hawaii County Council <br /> Hilo, Hawai`i 96720 <br /> Your Committee on Finance, to which was referred Resolution No. 290-17, reports as follows: <br /> Resolution No. 290-17, transmitted by Finance Director Collins Tomei, via Communication <br /> No. 441 dated August 31, 2017, authorizes the Mayor to enter into a multi-year housing <br /> assistance payment contract with UHC 00525 Hilo Limited Partnership owners of E Komo Mai, <br /> selected for the Section 8 project-based voucher program as offered through a public notice dated <br /> February 12, 19, and 29, 2012. <br /> This agreement authorizes the Mayor to enter into a new five-year agreement to continue <br /> providing rental assistance for up to 11 eligible participants. <br /> Committee Chair Maile David noted that Neil Gyotoku, Housing Administrator, was present in <br /> the Hilo Council Chambers for questions. <br /> Chair David entertained a motion to amend Resolution No. 290-17 with the contents of <br /> Communication No. 441.1. The amendment changes the date of publication from the 29th to the <br /> 26th in the title, the second whereas clause, and the enacting clause. <br /> Amendment to Resolution No. 290-17 with the contents of Communication No. 441.1 passed <br /> unanimously. <br /> Council Member Eileen O'Hara requested an explanation of the resolution. Mr. Gyotoku <br /> introduced Duane Hosaka, new Assistant Housing Administrator, and explained that this <br /> resolution continues to provide assistance to 11 Section 8 participants at the E Koro Mai <br /> Housing project. He noted there was a previous five-year contract to provide Section 8 project <br /> based vouchers, and that this is just a continuation of that project to help them. <br /> FC Report No. 44 <br />
