• <br /> PUBLIC UTILITIES AND SERVICES <br /> 18. Access: Access to the property is from Nalani Street, which is owned and maintained by <br /> the County. Nalani Street has a 40-foot right-of-way, with a pavement width of sixteen <br /> (16) feet and three (3)-foot shoulders. According to the Department of Public Works <br /> (DPW), the existing Nalani Street is 40 feet wide and the current minimum width of a <br /> County road is 50 feet. DPW recommends that the applicant provide improvements to the <br /> property's entire Nalani Street frontage consisting of, but not limited to, pavement <br /> widening with concrete curb, gutter and sidewalk, drainage improvements, and any <br /> required utility relocation meeting with the requirements of the Americans With <br /> Disabilities Act and the approval of DPW. The improvements shall be located within any <br /> future road widening setback as may be established by the Planning Department. <br /> 19. Water: According to the Department of Water Supply (DWS), the subject property is <br /> currently served by a 5/8-inch County water meter, limited to an average of 400 gallons <br /> per day. Water can be made available from an existing 6-inch waterline with Nalani <br /> Street fronting the subject parcel. DWS confirmed receipt of the required water <br /> commitment payment for one (1) additional unit of water on October 5, 2018. The <br /> applicant will be required to complete water systems improvements, remit facilities <br /> charges and convey water system improvements to the County of Hawai`i Water Board <br /> prior to water meter service being granted. <br /> 20. Wastewater: The subject parcel is not served by the County sewer system. According to <br /> the applicant, a new septic tank system, approved by the Department of Health, will be <br /> installed for each new dwelling. <br /> 21. Solid Waste: Solid waste will be taken to the South Hilo Sanitary Landfill by the <br /> individual lot owners or a private hauling service. <br /> 22. Essential Utilities and Services: Police, Fire and medical services are available in Hilo. <br /> All other essential utilities are available to the property. <br /> AGENCIES' COMMENTS <br /> 23.
