And I feel <br />7 <br />very fortunate that I found some -- like my planning <br />8 <br />director -- found him kind of accidentally, stolen from <br />9 <br />Seattle. You literally try to steal good people. And, <br />10 <br />right now, I have Dave Yamamoto, who has been in County <br />11 <br />Public Works for a long time. And if you ask him, "How <br />12 <br />many times did Harry ask you to take your job?" -- if he <br />13 <br />won't lie, it's at least four times. But, you know, I <br />14 <br />finally wore him down. So, sometimes it's not the <br />15 <br />salary at all, you know? It's not that easy with a <br />16 <br />200,000 population, limited management experience. <br />17 <br />Like, let's take the hardest one for me this <br />18 <br />past year -- past two years -- Environmental Management. <br />19 <br />Do you know the specific skills you got to have to <br />20 <br />manage that department and be a good manager and good <br />21 <br />thinker? I found him by accident, too. He was a <br />22 <br />retiree. His last job was Saudi Arabia -- 2,000 <br />23 <br />employees under his arm. Come to Hawai ʻ i to retire. <br />24 <br />And I told him, "Get out of your wife's hair and work a <br />25 <br />little while." And I did tell him that.
