MUKAI: Thank you, members of the Board. <br />11 <br />John Mukai, Deputy Corp. Counsel, on behalf of the <br />12 <br />Clerk's office in Ms. Torres's appeal. <br />13 <br />As set forth in our motion to dismiss, <br />14 <br />Ms. Torres' appeal on the Merit Appeals Board dated <br />15 <br />January 6th, 2017 specifically arises out of the <br />16 <br />November 7th, 2016 letter from the Hawai ʻ i County Clerk, <br />17 <br />Mr. Stewart Maeda, that she was going to be <br />18 <br />investigated for possible violations of the County of <br />19 <br />Hawai ʻ i internet policy and ethics violations. <br />20 <br />Now, that same day, Ms. Torres filed an <br />21 <br />internal complaint which referenced Mr. Maeda's letter, <br />22 <br />and we have attached that as Exhibit B. <br />23 <br />Now, on December 20, Ms. Poindexter of the <br />24 <br />County Council wrote to Ms. Torres and found that <br />25 <br />management had the right to investigate possible <br /> <br />ISLAND COURT REPORTING & TRANSCRIPTION SERVICES <br />(808) 933-9800 <br /> <br />
