<br /> <br />Page 28 <br />1 <br />Department of Environmental Management and Fire Department. <br />2 <br />As you know, currently our Police Department and <br />3 <br />Department of Parks and Recreation, we third-party contract <br />4 <br />the workers comp supervision of those departments to a <br />5 <br />third-party adjustor. And we've identified DEM and fire as <br />6 <br />the departments with the next highest amount of costs <br />7 <br />allocated to workers comp injuries and the like -- loss of <br />8 <br />work. So we've engaged -- they've agreed to engage in a <br />9 <br />program where we can establish a safety and performance as <br />10 <br />relates to prevention and reduction of workers comp <br />11 <br />incidents. <br />12 <br />Those are the departments or the divisions within <br />13 <br />our department. Now I'm going to move to the overall <br />14 <br />departmental updates. <br />15 <br />As you know, the Department of HR is tasked with <br />16 <br />providing administrative support, and I'm also an ex-officio <br />17 <br />member of the Salary Commission. So the Salary Commission <br />18 <br />since, you know, during this past quarter, has met twice. <br />19 <br />We're looking at the salaries of all the County department <br />20 <br />heads, administration, and elected officials. <br />21 <br />Our department has provided information to the <br />22 <br />Commission regarding comparisons of salaries for other <br />23 <br />jurisdictions.
