SHOOK: Mr. Shook, have you since this has taken place, tried to settle this before coming <br />to a hearing or any other place that you tried to understand and try to come up with a reasonable <br />(inaudible) solution to this? <br />MR. MUKAL Question relevance. <br />REP. SHOOK: I re I'll re -question it. Have you made communications with other people to <br />try and learn more about this? <br />APPELLANT SHOOK: Yes, sir. After the incident at the Police Station, I went directly to Hilo <br />HR Department across the street and I spoke to the clerk there to clarify Mr. Reyes' comments <br />on, "If you don't get in, you don't get in. You fail once, you're never getting in." <br />And the clerk at the office said, he should have never said that. I have no idea what he's talking <br />about. And then he made an off comment that Mr. Reyes has a record of <br />MR. MUKAL I object, this is hearsay. <br />CHR. NAMAHOE: I think my concern right now isas we're going forward with this, at some <br />point in time, the Board members also would like the opportunity to address the witness. So, I <br />want to take this moment right now. I appreciate the questioning from both sides. And I want to <br />give the opportunity to the Board members if they would like to ask Appellant Shook any <br />questions. <br />MR. CHILLINGWORTH: Madam Chair, this is Chillingworth, no questions from the—from <br />me. <br />CHR. NAMAHOE: Thank you. <br />MS. HUGHES: And this is Bella Hughes, no questions for me. But I do look forward to <br />discussing (inaudible) in executive session. <br />CHR. NAMAHOE: Thank you. <br />MR. VENTURA: And this is Mr. Ventura, I have no questions for Mr. Shook. <br />CHR. NAMAHOE: Okay. I appreciate this. So, just to make sure that we stay on track here, <br />you have exhibits that you present—you presented. You also have exhibits that you have <br />presented that the County has presented. I'm going to ask you, make your case and be thorough. <br />REP. SHOOK: I have only a few things I'd like to point out. It has a lot to do with the case <br />because it's about credibility. <br />CHR.
