Recessed: 9:41 a. m. <br />Reconvened: 1:31 p.m. <br />CALL TO ORDER <br />Chairperson Michael Hughes called the meeting to order at 1:31 p.m. <br />Present: Board Members Michael Hughes, Diane Blancett-Maddock, Michael Okumoto, Dale <br />Tokuuke and Nelson Harano; Deputy Corporation Counsel Sinclair Salas-Ferguson; Real Property <br />Tax Asst. Administrator Keita Jo, Real Property Appraisal Supervisor Dionne Costa and Real <br />Property Appeals Board Clerk Sherlyn Aronce. <br />Deputy Corporation Counsel Sinclair Salas-Ferguson announced the general procedures of the <br />appeal hearing and advised all Appellants and the Department of the procedure the Board would be <br />following for the rendering of their decision and the Appellants' further right to appeal to the Tax <br />Appeal Court located in Honolulu within 30 days from the date of the decision letter that the appellant <br />will be receiving via certified mail. <br />CASE #42120 — OKUNO, DALE <br />TMIK 6-6-002-018-0001 <br />The appellant along with his legal representatives, Keyra Wong and Thomas Yeh were present. <br />Present for the County was appraiser, Charlie Brown. <br />The property is a beachfront residential lot on the south side of Wailea Beach lots on Wailea Bay just <br />south of Hapuna Beach. <br />The land value is under appeal. <br />The appellant's legal representatives presented their case. County presented their case and <br />recommended sustaining the County's assessed land value of $3,625,600. A call for questions was <br />made. <br />The Board recessed to further review all documents presented <br />Recessed: 2:12 p.m. <br />Reconvened: 2:36 p.m. <br />A call for questions was made. The Board questioned both parties <br />Mr. Harano motioned that the Board go into a short 5-10 minute executive session to consult <br />with Corporation Counsel. Seconded by Ms. Blancett-Maddock. A call for discussion was <br />made. Motion passed by a vote of 5:0. <br />Entered into executive session at 2:59 p.m. <br />Executive session was entered to clarify the Board's powers. Counsel reminded the Board that their <br />decision should only be based on the evidence provided before them.
