Walua Partners, LLC.: Special Management Area Use Permit Application <br /> Permit Application. The public participation process also includes the Contested <br /> Case Hearing process. As such, the public's participation begins as soon as the <br /> application is submitted to the Planning Department. The public can submit their <br /> comments and provide information to the Planning Director prior to the <br /> scheduling of the Special Management Area Use Permit Application for a public <br /> hearing. <br /> 8. Public Participation: <br /> The County of Hawaii Planning Commission must hold a public hearing on the <br /> Applicant's Special Management Area Permit Use Application. At the public <br /> hearing, the public is free to participate in this open hearing forum and to <br /> provide their comments to the Planning Commission. The Planning Commission <br /> public hearing and if required, the Contested Case Process, provides the vehicle <br /> for stimulating public awareness, education of this process, and more <br /> importantly participation in the coastal management decision making. <br /> 9. Beach Protection: <br /> The project site is separated from the shoreline by over 500 feet and two county <br /> owned roadways. The proposed residential buildings will not affect any public <br /> beaches nor adversely affect public use and recreation of the shoreline in this <br /> area. <br /> 10. Marine Resources: <br /> The project site is separated from the shoreline by over 500 feet and two county <br /> owned roadways. There will be no impact on the State's ocean resources. <br /> 19 <br />
