The Committee on Aging serves as an advisory council to advise <br />HCOA on the development and administration of the area plan, conduct public hearings, represent the <br />interests of older persons, and receive and comment on all community policies, programs, and actions which <br />affect older persons of Hawai‘i County. The Committee on Aging is a mandated function by the Older <br />Americans Act and a requirement for this plan to be approved and funding to be released. HCOA also <br />spearheads the Mayors’ Committee on People with Disabilities which advises the Mayor on all matters <br />related to persons with disabilities. As its’ primary goal, the committee reviews and recommends actions and <br />provides guidelines to improve the quality of life for all people with disabilities. <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br />The County of Hawaiʻi <br />The Hawaiʻi County Office of Aging is one of 19 departments within the County of <br />Hawaiʻi organiza?on.
