that notable, just in case you guys got family members down there driving. They're usually
about around 4 miles by where the Nene Drive, walks. I still didn't get an update from... the
sewer plant and... and trying to get the exhaust pipe moved into Puna, behind the mac nuts.
And other than that, it's just the same thing. When it rains, the pigs come out alongside
Panaewa stretch. Sometimes they're in the middle of the road, usually, between 4 a.m. and
6 a.m.and then the same times in the evenings. But other than that, just same things
happen in Hilo. Thank you. Literally. And we can move forward to District Number 4.
BL: Brian Ley, District 4, not a lot to report. Pigs are doing good. Still got our fishing hole. And
one thing somebody, Stanley, asked me to bring up was that the Boy Scout camp is up for
sale. And he was saying that we should put a thing in,a letter, maybe we can do that today,
since we have corporate council,to recommend to the county that the county buys the Boy
Scout camp, because it already has an existing Firearm range that the state approved funds
for several years ago that we don't knowwhat ever happened to him, but the legislator did
pass a thing for this big island of Hawaii to have a gun range, and money was appropriated
for it, and we just kind of lost steam on that, so I don't know if we can all, since we got
enough people here, vote, write a quick letter to the county saying, you know, it's all
possible that we buy the Boy Scout camp and use state funds for the firearm range, and the
county can lease it back to the Boy Scouts or other groups, since we already have a...
Facility all set up for all that stuff. And the second thing would be speaking on pages, you
know, once again. Can we vote on having the county sue and the state for not following the
laws on sufficient habitat, because we've all seen the habitat and the game animals failing
down, and it's a state law, but the DLNR is supposed to be supplying quality habitat, and
they're not doing it, and I think the county needs to step up and make the state do what it's
supposed to be doing. If we can vote on that and put a resolution that, you know, send a
thing to the county to... do that, and that's all I have to report. Okay.Yeah, thank you very
much.
LT: Any discussion? None seen? Okay, move forward, it can last for the day. Justin Akerman in
District 9,
JA: Justin Akerman District 9: Only thing to report,we just talked about it was the weak
numbers in birds, and to throw on top of that, red spiney are low as well, that I'm hearing.
But on the Boy Scout Camp purchase, meeting with James Hustace on the 5th of January,
and we were going to be discussing the shooting range as well, so I'll throw that in there, as
an option for a,at least an interim solution,an easy interim solution to that, because that is
a huge problem that provides a lot of opportunity for the county. So,whether it's archery for
KP, archery for adults,we don't have any of those opportunities That are sanctioned on the
island, like we do on other islands, and with us being 10 times larger than any other island,
don't have anything. So,which is a huge shame, and a major loss.Yeah, for sure. And it
could also be huge revenue for the island if theywere to take an opportunity for it, or,
ecotourism.So,just missed opportunities.
