Changes or additions below appear in bold and may be followed by comment within [.....] MISSION STATEMENT We advocate law enforcement based on due regard for the rights of all persons, exhibiting transparency, and promoting the highest degree of mutual respect between the police and public. RULE 2. POWERS and DUTIES (b) Review the annual budget prepared by the chief of police and make recommendations thereon to the mayor. The Commission shall begin the review process [provide the month or state the time relative to the budget cycle and or the chiefs draft submission]. The Commission Chair shall appoint a three -member team to interface with the department during budget preparation and report on findings and potential recommendations to be made by the Commission. The Commission shall provide the Chief of Police with findings and suggestions for discussion and potential incorporation into the budget. A brief report of recommendations shall be provided to the Mayor [state timeframe relative to the budget completion and submission]. Budget recommendations will be recapped in the Commission's annual report to the Mayor, Managing Director, and the County Council.
