Gleason reported that he will provide copies of the 2008 Interagency Action Plan <br />for the Emergency Preparedness of People with Disabilities and Special Health <br />Needs to MCPD members. DCAB has been instrumental in completing a final draft <br />of the plan. <br />UNFINISHED BUSINESS <br />A. VOLUNTEER PARKING VIOLATION ENFORCEMENT PROGRAM UPDATE – <br />SGT. K. KAAUAMOANA-MATSUMOTO <br />Sergeant K. Kaauamoana-Matsumoto will be invited to attend the next meeting. <br />B. UPDATE FROM DCAB – C. FLEMING/N. OLESEN/F. WAI <br />The March report from F. Wai, Executive Director of DCAB, was distributed to <br />MCPD members. <br />C. ADA COORDINATOR’S REPORT – T. SPINOLA-CAMPBELL <br />T. Spinola-Campbell provided her report as the ADA Coordinator for February 2008. <br />ADA Coordinator’s report attached. <br />R. Wagner-Wright explained that he would like to advocate that people who have <br />service animals should have their dog internationally trained. He got his service <br />animal through a charitable foundation on Oahu. <br />T. Spinola-Campbell indicated that the ADA says that people can train their own <br />service animals. An establishment can only ask if the service animal is required for <br />accessibility and they can also ask what is the dog trained to do. If the person <br />answers, then they have to let the dog in. If the dog is not under the control of the <br />handler or causes a distraction or poses a threat to anybody in the establishment, <br />then the establishment can ask the dog to leave. <br />D. PARKS AND RECREATION REPORT – A. MITCHENER <br />A. Mitchener provided her report on the Recreation Division, Aquatics Division, <br />Elderly Activities Division, Panaewa Complex, and some community issues. Report <br />attached. <br />E. ADA TRAINING FOR EMPLOYERS – M. GLEASON <br />M. Gleason reported that he spoke to the Workforce Solutions committee which is <br />working with the Workforce Development Division.
