After some discussion, J. Balberde-Kamalii moved to retain the prizes for first place- <br />$100, second place-$75, third place-$50, and honorable mention-$25 for the winners <br />of the essay contest. C. Ka-ipo seconded the motion. The motion was passed. <br />The essay contest expenses were circulated to CSW members for review. The event <br />will cost approximately $2,760 or less. C. Ka-ipo moved to accept the budget for the <br />essay contest. A. Mejia seconded the motion. The motion was passed. <br />The awards luncheon is scheduled for Sunday, March 21, 2010, from 10:30 a.m. to <br />1:30 p.m. at the Hapuna Beach Prince Hotel. <br />CSW decided to distribute a set of books by Dr. J. Murray to the teacher and book <br />titled, “But I Love Him,” to the winner. Also, pens can be given to everyone. <br />4.Hawaii County Women’s Hall of Fame <br />C. Ka-ipo reported that the committee discussed having a display of the women’s hall <br />of fame winners. However, the committee does not have past individual pictures or a <br />location to display them. N. Kelly suggested putting them on the county’s website <br />under the committee’s link. C. Ka-ipo and D. Pung agreed to work on this project. <br />A. Mejia offered to bring three sample awards from Trophy Case to the next meeting <br />for approval because the vases were heavy. <br />5.Equal Pay <br />CSW asked E. Cabatu to bring an estimate of the cost of the radio spots at the next <br />meeting for approval. <br />B.Health <br />1.Women’s Health Month <br />E. Cabatu suggested that CSW partner with Hui Malama Ola Na Oiwi for their Ladies <br />Night Out event which will be held on the first week of October. The Kona side will <br />also be having a Ladies Night Out event. <br />C. Ka-ipo moved that CSW partner with Hui Malama Ola Na Oiwi and the other <br />partners to put on a Ladies Night Out in October to celebrate Women’s Health Month. <br />D. Pung seconded the motion. The motion was passed. <br />C.Liaison <br />1.HSCSW <br />E. Cabatu reported that a big event will be held on March 18, 2010 at the Governor’s <br />Mansion on Oahu to celebrate Women’s History Month. The county committee is <br />invited and she will be attending the event. The national theme is “Writing Women <br />Back into History.” She will check with S. Ferguson-Quick to see if they are still <br />soliciting input for essays of a prominent Hawaiian woman. C. Ka-ipo recommended <br />Dottie Thompson and D. Pung suggested Helene Hale. <br />3 <br /> <br />
