STATEMENTS FROM THE PUBLIC
L. Guluzzy reported that she is a Kona resident and a recent attendee of the 3rd Annual
Hawaii County Womens Hall of Fame. She appreciates that CSW has continued the
Womens Hall of Fame and it was very well attendedthis year. C. Ka-ipo has done an
outstanding job as well as other committee members that helped. She anticipates a
long and fruitful future for the Hawaii County Womens Hall of Fame. She is pleased
that this event is going forward as part of the committees agenda. She also asked that
the committee do a little more advertising for the Kona area to garner more attendance.
She offered her assistance with publicity in the West Hawaii Today. Furthermore, she
was asked by James Wing, photographer/oceanographer, who donated framed
photographs for the first Womens Hall of Fame to be contacted for future donations.
L. Guluzzys employer, Alert Alarm of Hawaii, donated one night stay for two to each of
the honorees at the Hilton Waikoloa Village. Perhaps Robert Bean, President of Alert
Alarm of Hawaii, would be willing to do that again if a request was made. Safeway
donated $25 gift cards to each of the honoree.
K. Peters said that CSW had extensive discussion on soliciting, but the committee was
told about the restrictions of soliciting donations. L. Guluzzy said that when she was on
the committee, they suggested forming a separate entity called friends of the CSW to
assist with fundraising. This is an idea that CSW can pursue and maybe challenge the
restrictions of soliciting donations.
A. Mejia commended C. Ka-ipo for doing a wonderful job because she felt very
honored. The person instrumental in putting an article in the Hawaii Tribune Herald was
Pudding Lassiter.
L. Guluzzy mentioned that the crystal vases that K. Peters put together were beautiful
and incredible.
CORRESPONDENCE
A.
