Malone mentioned that she is an active AAUW member from her chapter. The <br />mission statement and the vision of the AAUW are to support young girls and <br />women. Their very nature is inclusiveness and not about division. <br />M. Masunaga pointed out that the Hawaii County CSW is the most active committee <br />in the State of Hawaii. CSW is lucky to have the support of the Mayor and the <br />County Council who is willing to put money behind the committee. <br />B. Sponsorships and Co-Sponsorships <br />None. <br />C. Guest Speakers <br />M. Masunaga reported that she spoke to Council Chair Stacy Higa as a potential <br />guest speaker for the next Hilo or Kona meeting. <br />E. Takazawa reported that she invited Belinda Cole from the Bay Clinic for the July <br />meeting. <br />D. Bylaws <br />None. <br />E. Teen Dating Violence Prevention Initiative Training Program <br />M. Masunaga reported that C. Kitaoka was unable to attend todays meeting <br />because she is attending a workshop on teen violence on Oahu - a project on Oahu <br />focusing on homeless and runaway girls which is a very narrow federally funded <br />program. Judith Clark from Hawaii Youth Services Network invited them to share <br />information and they plan to visit the Big Island to share their project. <br />M.MasunagasaidthatC.Kitaokacontactedthefollowingspeakerstoattendthe <br />training: Rae Anne Spence from Texas, a lieutenant from Idaho whose daughter <br />wasavictimofteendatingviolence,andtheAmericanBarAssociationDirectoron <br />the steering committee on the unmet legal needs of children in Washington, D.C. <br />Therewasalsoaprofessionaltrainer,buthewasnotwillingtowaivehisspeaking <br />fee so he will not be invited. Therefore, a local speaker within the state is being <br />lookedinto. <br />M.MasunagasaidthatC.Kitaokaisworkingonobtainingtheairfarewithout <br />reserving specific dates since they are working with the schools to determine what <br />datestheywouldallowtheteenstoattendthetraining.Theyarelookingat50teens <br />from East Hawaii and West Hawaii. The location of the training will depend on the <br />costofthebusesandroomfees.Thetrainingwilloccuranywherebetween <br />September 2005 and February 2006. Funding includes 199 participants and some <br />5 <br /> <br />
