willing to do a financial planning for women in Hilo during Women’s Health <br />Month. <br />She is coordinating with Geraldine Hasegawa from Hilo for a seminar in Waimea <br />or Waikoloa on the update of federal legislation and how it relates to state and <br />county rules in establishing paternity and voluntary inception of paternity in the <br />hospital. It will be a question and answer session for mothers, fathers, or service <br />providers who need to understand what the regulations are. <br />P. Newland reported that she met with a teacher who invited her to do the “From <br />Buds to Flowers-Growing Girls to Ladies” program at Keaau High School during <br />Women’s Health Month. <br />C. Liaison <br />1. HSCSW <br />M. Masunaga reported that she is waiting to hear from the staff person at the <br />HSCSW when the next meeting will be scheduled, if the Governor released <br />funding for the HSCSW, and when the HSCSW commissioners can begin the <br />Executive Director search. She also informed the HSCSW about CSW working <br />with Kahilu Theatre on the concert. <br />2. Legislative Update <br />No report. <br />D. Marketing <br />1. Newsletter <br />J. Coburn reported that she will be taking pictures of CSW members during lunch <br />today for the newsletter. <br />E. Community Reports <br />E. Takazawa reported that PBS has a half-hour program on Wednesdays, at <br />7:30 p.m. focusing on women’s health. Two of the six series programs have been <br />aired. M. Masunaga offered to contact someone at PBS, so as to inquire if the <br />program could be aired during Women’s Health Month in September. <br />P. Newland reported that Mayor Kim has written a letter of support on behalf of the <br />Gentle Birth Resolution which is coming before the House of Representatives joint <br />Committees on Health and Welfare. Secondly, Mayor Kim has proclaimed May as <br />Gentle Birth Month in honor of Mother’s Day and Mother’s Day is Gentle Birth Day. <br />She asked if CSW would be willing to send a letter of support on behalf of the Gentle <br />Birth Resolution. <br />P. Newland announced that she has been voted treasurer of Mainstreet Pahoa at <br />last month’s board meeting. In addition, she has been involved as the <br />coordinator/organizer for the last few years with the skateboard park in Puna. Her <br />4 <br /> <br />
