B. Health <br />1. Womens Health Month <br />E. Takazawa thanked CSW members for distributing the Calendar of Events. <br />There were a total of 5,000 (2,500 for East Hawaii and 2,500 for West Hawaii) <br />calendars designated for the Big Island. L. Guluzzy did a phenomenal job of <br />distributing the calendars in Kona. <br />E. Takazawa said that she and D. Pung coordinated the Tai Chi class on <br />September 4 and Qi Gong class on September 11 at Curves in Hilo. Secondly, <br />CSW and the Hawaii Naniloa Resort spa will be co-sponsoring a fitness fair on <br />Saturday, September 25, from 1 to 4 p.m. on the grounds of the Hawaii Naniloa <br />Resort. Presenter Marcia Timboy, is a certified group exercise instructor and <br />personal trainer specializing in womens fitness. The event will include free <br />health assessment screenings (blood pressure and body fat composition <br />readings, strength and flexibility testing), fitness tips on weight training, yoga and <br />pilates demos. <br />E. Takazawa stated that she would like CSW to work with M. Masunaga to <br />replicate the financial seminar next year in Hilo. <br />P.Newlandreportedthatapressreleasewillbeissuedtodayonthesecond <br />annual From Buds to Flowers-Growing Girls to Ladies program to be held on <br />Wednesday, September 22, at the Pahoa High and Intermediate School <br />cafeteria. <br />The meeting was recessed at 11:00 a.m. The meeting was reconvened at <br />11:03 a.m. <br />C. Liaison <br />1. HSCSW <br />There was no report from the HSCSW. <br />J. Balberde-Kamalii asked who determines A. Hikida Tasakas replacement. It <br />was pointed out that the Governor makes the appointment and Jeanne Ohta has <br />assumed the responsibilities of the HSCSW on a part-time basis. J. Balberde- <br />Kamalii said that she would like to send something to A. Hikida Tasaka as an <br />acknowledgment from CSW. E. Takazawa added that she appreciated A. Hikida <br />Tasakas support with the essay contest and she was very personable. <br />P. Newland moved to provide a thank you gift up to $50 for A. Hikida Tasaka as <br />a token of appreciation. J. Balberde-Kamalii seconded the motion. The motion <br />was passed. <br />2. Legislative Update <br />Noreport. <br />4 <br /> <br />
