Masunaga reported that she will be submitting a proposal for CSWÓs <br />consideration on a mentoring project. The project will be a follow up on last <br />yearÓs mentoring project about etiquette with Chef Amy Ota who already agreed <br />to volunteer her services. A. Ota felt that the young girls needed a follow up. <br />M. Masunaga stated that she spoke to a child psychologist, Dr. Terry Ann Fujioka <br />who highly recommended that CSW purchase two books called Revivi <br />Ophelia, which is about adolescent girls, and a book called Odd Girl Speaks Out. <br />Perhaps CSW could purchase 24 books ($14 each) for a total of $3 <br />Girl Speaks Out. <br />E. Takazawa mentioned that she has a friend who is with a mentoring project for <br />Salvation Army in Hilo. She is currently looking for mentors so E. Takazawa <br />decided to drop off an application to be a mentor. <br />L. Guluzzy stated that her husband just taught an etiquette class at Konawaena <br />Middle School as a substitute teacher. Perhaps M. Masunaga may want to <br />follow up with the school since they have an ongoing program. <br />M. Masunaga indicated that her proposal will include the books for approximately <br />$336 and a lunch/dinner for the young girls and their moms for approximately <br />$480. The total would be a maximum of $816. The project is being scheduled <br />before June 10, 2004 or by June 30, 2004. The target group could be last yearÓs <br />group or the students at Konawaena Middle School. Unfortunately, last yearÓs <br />project lacked the publicity. <br />J. Balberde-Kamalii expressed her concerns that it would be in the best interest if <br />the same group from last year were utilized as a follow up. L. <br />assist with publicity through West Hawaii Today. <br />CSW suggested that M. Masunaga prepare a financial worksheet of the project <br />and submit it to J. Viernes so the committee can review and approve the budget <br />at the next meeting. <br />P. Newland shared a thank you letter for her event held last yea <br />health month at Pahoa High and Intermediate School. She would like to follow <br />up with students from Mrs. Sue NozakiÓs class of Pahoa High and Intermediate <br />School on a mentoring project. <br />6. Dress for Success/Fashion Furlough <br />M.
