ORDER OF THE DAY / NEW BUSINESS <br /> <br /> <br />CHR. SIRACUSA: We will now go on to Order of the Day, also known as New Business. <br />COMM. 12: DISCUSSION ON TECHNICAL SUPPORT <br />Memo from County Clerk, Jamae K. K. Kawauchi, County Clerk, dated May 2, 2011, <br />requesting a discussion on Technical Support for the Redistricting Commission. <br /> <br />RODNEY OSHIRO <br />(At this time Rodney Oshiro, Deputy County Clerk came forward to address members of the Commission.) <br /> <br />CHR. SIRACUSA: We have Mr. Oshiro up at the table. <br />MR. OSHIRO: Yes, my name is Rodney Oshiro, Deputy County Clerk. Ms. Kawauchi <br />apologizes for not being here today; she had an emergency, so she asked me to jump in. <br />Basically, our task is to assist you in your efforts to do your job. Our Ðgo toÑ person is Kare <br />through the Chair. If you need anything, Karen is our person. <br />myself, Jamae; of course you have Pat and the Elections staff and also Mike and the <br />Corporation Counsel staff. <br /> <br />As far as software and related items required; we do the purchasing, if necessary. We assist <br />you in the purchasing of this equipment. We do the logistics for your meetings and we also <br />assist you in your training. All of this falls under the Office of the County Clerk. If you need <br />the technical questions answered, software is in Honolulu, so we would be contacting Honolulu <br />for assistance with that software. <br /> <br />CHR. SIRACUSA: I have a question. Has that software contract been signed? <br /> <br />MR. OSHIRO: We havenÓt heard anything from them yet. <br /> <br />CHR. SIRACUSA: Have you had a chance to look at the testimony, or did you listen to the <br />testimony that was provided by Mr. Bidleman? <br /> <br />MR. OSHIRO: Yes, I have. <br /> <br />CHR. SIRACUSA: Would you like to address some of those? <br /> <br />MR. OSHIRO: We would be deferring to our IT division to assist us in helping solve these <br />problems that we have; so IT (Information Technology) and also the State Elections Office. <br /> <br />CHR. SIRACUSA: I needed a motion to open up discussion on this agenda item. <br /> <br />Mr. Melrose moved to open up discussion on <br />Communication 12.
