I support what Mr. Bidleman said about the software and the hardware. I absolutely support
each one of you having at minimum a subset of the software so you can do this on your own.
You will quickly see how the domino effect takes place when you move a block of people
around the island. ThatÓs basically all I have, I will be in the building, but IÓll be in a different
room, if you have a question for me, IÓll be happy to come in and answer. If not, good luck, and
have fun. Thanks.

CHR. SIRACUSA: Thank you very much; and thank you for all your efforts. Is
else in Kona or Waimea that would like to testify?
MS. HANANO: Yes, madam chair, from Waimea we have one testifier here this afternoon. The
testifier here is Jo Jo Tanimoto. She is here representing herself and wanting to comment.

JO JO TANIMOTO
(At this time Jo Jo Tanimoto came forward to address members of the Commission.)

MS. TANIMOTO: Good afternoon, my name is Jo Jo Tanimoto and I live in Kawai
Hawaiian Homestead. I have a question as well as a testimony. The question first is whether the
decision of the Council, which we actually, down there, donÓt have a problem with voting for the
Councilman; which would be the same as North Kohala. If it goes to the Legislature, because
our representative is in North Kohala, we live in South Kohala according to the County map.
Our homestead was split, so we want to be put together again. We want to be mended together
again; our interests are in South Kohala, especially at the Harbor. That would be ten people that
are in South Kohala Homestead and the other couple hundred would be in North Kohala. So the
vote that would impact us would be that split. So as County, we have the same Councilman, but
if we go to Representative, then we want to be put together. So my question would be is if the
decision of this County Redistricting would go to the Legislature level and be considered at that
level? Thank you.

CHR. SIRACUSA: Thank you. As Corporation Counsel told us before, we cannot answer
questions. But we do hear your concerns. Are there any other testifiers? Since there are none,
we will get on with the next item on the agenda which is Approval of the Minutes.

APPROVAL OF MINUTES

CHR. SIRACUSA: I will assume that everybody has had a chance to look over the minutes.

Mr. Melrose moved to approve the minutes of
the April 25, 2011 HawaiÒi County Redistricting
Commission meeting. Seconded by Mr. Middlesworth.

CHR. SIRACUSA: Any discussion?
5
