Mr. Melrose moved to accept the information
provided by Commission attorney, Mr. Michael
Udovic, and contained in Communication 7.0
and 7.1. Seconded by Ms. Ugalde.

CHR. SIRACUSA: Is there any discussion?
MR. MIDDLESWORTH: I donÓt know if itÓs discussion, but I do have a comment to m
Mr. Udovic's letter it says that the costs were roughly $6,000 because they used County attorneys
to defend the lawsuit. If you wanted to have a legitimate response, you would have to include
the cost for the time for those attorneys, which I think was probably a lot more than the $6,000.

CHR. SIRACUSA: Okay, are there any other comments or discussion?
MR. MELROSE: I would just ask Mr. Udovic to think about that. I thought that was a pretty
poor response relative to the cost to the County. We were looking for a specific sense to the
County, not just airfare and paper costs. We can talk to you later about it, but I think we should
accept the Communication.
CHR. SIRACUSA: Thank you, Mr. Melrose. So, are we ready to vote?

The motion to accept Communications 7.0 and
7.1 was carried by the following vote:

Ayes: Commissioners Carvalho, Kahawaiolaa,
Kanuha, Melrose, Middlesworth,
Poindexter, Ugalde, and Chair Siracusa.
Noes: None.
Absent: Commissioner Kahui.
COMM. 8: 2001 REAPPORTIONMENT COMMISSION’S FINAL PLAN
Memo from Elections Program Administrator, Patricia Nakamoto, dated April 28, 2011
transmitting the 2001 Reapportionment CommissionÓs Final Plan.

CHR. SIRACUSA: Do I have a motion?

Mr. Melrose moved to accept Comm. 8,
The 2001 Reapportionment CommissionÓs
Final Plan, provided by Election Program
Administrator, Pat Nakamoto.
