CHR. SIRACUSA: Okay, the following week, November 10, 2011, we have a meeting scheduled
already; and that is our Draft Plan deadline
MR. MELROSE: And that is also at 10:00 a.m. We may be able to finish it with just one
meeting, but I guess we are just booking times.
CHR. SIRACUSA: Yes, we are booking times. If we finish way ahead of schedule we can
always cancel a meeting.
MS. EOFF: The two public hearings have to be held after the Draft Plan is selected.
CHR. SIRACUSA: Is that tentatively scheduled for the 17th and 18th of November?
MS. EOFF: Yes, and we can also look at the 21" and 22nd, but I know that is Thanksgiving week,
so I'm not sure if that is good.
CHR. SIRACUSA: The 21" and 22nd is a Monday and Tuesday; the 17th and 18th are a Thursday
and Friday. Commissioners, which do you prefer?
MR. KAHAWAIOLA`A: The Thursday and Friday, are we going to have it in Hilo?
CHR. SIRACUSA: Thursday would be in West Hawaii and the Friday would be East Hawaii.
MS. EOFF: And those would have to be in the evening, because they are public hearings.
MR. MELROSE: Is that adequate notice? If we don't get a chance to submit the Plan until the
10th, that you can publicly notice and expect the community to respond by six days?
MS. EOFF: It barely gives us enough time. I think the 21st and 22nd would at least give a couple
more days for the newspaper. I would probably have to provide the notice and then at the last
minute give them the actual map, or direct people to the web site.
CHR. SIRACUSA: So the 21st and 22nd would actually give you more wiggle room.
MS. EOFF: It would.
CHR. SIRACUSA: How are those dates for everybody?
MR. MELROSE: I would prefer the 21st be in West Hawaii and the 22nd in East Hawaii,
because I have a class. Either way, I could manage to make it.
MR. KAHAWAIOLA`A: These are the two public hearings?
CHR. SIRACUSA: Does somebody want to make a motion?
12
