RENTAL VACANCY RATES
Rental vacancy rates for the County of Honolulu and the State of Hawaii have been on the rise
since 2005. Statewide vacancy rates hit an all-time high of 9.2 percent in 2009. In 2010, the
State's vacancy rate followed the national trend, dipping back down to 8.1 percent. Although
the increase was not as significant between 2009 and 2010 as in prior years, the rental market
in Honolulu continues to have increasing numbers of vacant rental units.
Figure 10.
