CSE ANNUAL VOLUNTEER RECOGNITION LUNCHEON <br />In gratitude for the countless hours of dedication and service to our Kupunas, <br />CSE is holding our annual volunteer recognition luncheons. West <br />Hawai’i will celebrate their volunteers on October 25, 2012 at the Imin Center. The theme for the <br />luncheon is “Caring Hearts, Helpful Hands”. This years East Hawai‘i Volunteer Recognition will <br />take place at Volcano's Lava Rock Café on Friday, November 9, 2012. This year’s theme is <br />“Volunteers ROCK!” <br />CSE volunteers assist with answering phones, filing, assisting staff with Senior ID cards, driving, <br />providing companionship to frail homebound seniors and in many other countless ways. <br />Mahalo to our amazing volunteers! <br /> <br />MEDICARE OPEN ENROLLMENT <br /> <br />CSE staff have been learning to use new laptops, printer, and scanners received from the Office on <br />Aging through a Federal Medicare grant. The laptops are just in time for Medicare health and <br />drug plans open enrollment period which runs from October 15, 2012 to December 7, 2012. <br /> <br />HAWAI‘I’S NEW “LEGAL PRESENCE LAW” <br />There have been some major changes to the requirements of renewing your Hawai‘i State <br />Driver’s License and State ID that went into effect March 5, 2012. The new “Hawai‘i Legal Presence <br />Law” states that each person must provide proof of legal presence in the United States, legal <br />identity and social security number. Valid proof of legal presence includes: <br /> <br />- U.S. Birth Certificate <br />- U.S. Issued Consular Report of Birth Abroad <br />- U.S. Passport <br />- Certificate of Citizenship <br />- Certificate of Naturalization <br />- Valid U.S. Military ID <br />- DHS/USCIS Resident Alien Card <br />- DHS/USCIS Temporary Resident ID <br />- DHS/USCIS Employment Authorization Card <br /> <br />If your birth name is different than the name printed on your proof of legal presence then you <br />will also need to provide proof of legal name change. This proof includes: <br /> <br />- Marriage or Civil Union Certificate <br />- Court Order for Name Change/Gender Change/Adoption/Divorce <br /> <br />Proof of social security number includes: <br /> <br />- Social Security Card <br />- Valid U.S. Active Duty/Retiree/Reservist Military ID <br /> <br />* All documents must be valid originals or certified copies. <br /> <br />There may be other special cases when other legal paperwork may be acceptable.
