Starting to get better. Would like to see a Whole Foods store, and HFN gas station (Mini- mart), and HFS Credit union. HELCO satellite office. A farmers market in Pahoa similar to Keaau Burger King and KFC are too expensive, I would have liked taco bell and Mcdonalds Good except for services; all that is in Hilo. we need to expand. The restaurants are great and pahoa is known for its great selection of food. Excellent restaurants in Pahoa. Maintaining those older buildings is worthwhile to community, but owners bear costs. Shopping: no store with clothing basics, especially not work clothes. Services: no repairs of appliances, tools available. we really need a huge shopping mall in pahoa town like hilo or even o'ahu has in their citys.. this really might improve our economy in pahoa. There are some good restaurants in Pahoa, more services with Lex Brodies, Malama Market, the clinical lab & fed -ex store but we need to bring more of the services in Hilo to Pahoa. More shopping services, etc needed NEED KTA Longs is nice. Glad to have a business that isn't gouging us pricewise just because we are in Pahoa. Other stores like Malama Market have horrendous prices. Yes, it is nice to have a grocery store but who can afford to shop there. What about a nice KTA with good selection and decent prices. We need more shopping options (grocery stores, department stores, IHop, etc.) Have KTA in Pahoa for peoples' convenient. Food is the most basic everyday need, we should 1 more grocery store. Longs doesn't have enough food. Malama is expensive. theres some good restaurant but we need better ones KFC is junk the one in Hilo is way better but we NEED starbucks!!! Improved since Malama Market opened, but not enough for such a growth area. We need more stores Development Page 6
