Mahalo Darlette Miguel for 20 Years of Service <br /> <br />Darlette Miguel has been with Coordinated Services for the Elderly for 20 years. She started working on <br />September 16, 1993 in a provisional hire position and later became a permanent employee as a Community <br />Service Assistant I. Over the years she has worked in various positions ranging from Community Service <br />Assistant I, to Community Service Program Assistant (CSPA). She has also covered many districts including <br />Waimea, Kohala, N. Hilo, Kona, and Honoka‘a. In 1998 she accepted the Community Services <br />Program Assistant position in North Hilo and in August 2003, she transferred to Hāmākua as the CSPA. <br />In her spare time, Darlette enjoys hula, traveling, but most of all, she loves spending time with her family and <br />grandchildren. Her philosophy of life “Make every day count, treat everyone as you want to be treated. <br />Resolve your problems; don’t hold on to grudges, for you never know when it may be the last time that you <br />see the person.” <br />When reflecting on her years with EAD/CSE, Darlette has always felt management heard and respected her <br />opinions; “I always felt supported, and open to express my concerns, and share my ideas…EAD is like my <br />second family.” Darlette feels “CSE is a unique program that can make such a difference in helping seniors <br />stay in their homes for as long as possible.” “It is an honor to serve such gems (the Kupuna); they are warm, <br />caring, and appreciative….I can never give them as much as they have given me…”. <br />Kupuna in Honoka‘a feel ”Darlette is a sweet, loving person; Darlette loves people, and the people love her...” . <br />“If the Lord put someone on earth to help people, he put Darlette; she is an angel from heaven.” <br />Mahalo Darlette, for your devotion, compassionate care, grace and humbleness throughout your 20 years of service. <br /> <br /> <br />West Hawai‘i Coordinated Services for the Elderly Volunteer Recognition Luncheon <br /> <br />This year, West Hawai‘i CSE will be expressing our appreciation to our wonderful volunteers with the <br />“CSE Volunteers Bring Sunshine to Our Lives” luncheon which will be held in Kona on October 18, 2013. <br />CSE volunteers help us to provide better service to our Kupuna. Mahalo volunteers for all that you do! <br /> <br /> <br />Senior Companion In-service <br /> <br />The Senior Companion in-service was held on August 9, 2013 at the West Hawai‘i Civic Center. <br />Special guest speaker was Paul Strauss, Public Health Educator with the Department of Health. <br />Mr. Strauss provided an informative in-service on Diabetes. <br /> <br />Kupuna News 3 October-December 2013
