<br />3.Voter Registration <br /> <br />Kim arranged for CSW to participate in the Kona Stroll on Sunday, June 8 and September 21, <br />12:30 (set up) to 6:00 (breakdown). Kim and Katie volunteered to man the table. Cyd and Mele <br />to look into similar opportunities in East Hawaii. <br />Brooke reported that Kohala High School may be interested in having a voter registration event. <br />She will contact the school. <br /> <br />4.Teen Dating Violence – Jill Murray <br /> <br />Dates have not been picked due to conflict with Hawaii Supreme Court’s Court in the <br />Community event. Carol has been in touch with Jill Murray to figure five days that would work <br />best. Tentative schedule: <br /> Sunday – Jill Murray flies into Kona <br /> Monday – Konawaena High and Intermediate (Carol to arrange) <br /> Tuesday – Ka’u High and Intermediate (Mele) <br /> Wednesday – Keaau High (Cyd) and UHH (Farrah-Marie) and meeting with Council (TBD) <br /> Thursday – Honokaa High School (Farrah-Marie) and UHH West Hawaii (Farrah-Marie) <br /> Friday – Kealekehe High and Intermediate (Hazel) <br /> Leave Kona evening. <br />Members with school contacts will assist Carol in setting up Jill’s visits. <br /> <br />5.Real Women Creative Writing Contest <br /> <br />Deadline for bids from hotels is today. Carol and Roxanne will follow-up with the lowest bidder. <br />More than 90 students submitted essays: <br /> Grades 5-6 28 <br /> Grades 7-8 33 <br /> Grades 9-10 11 <br /> Grades 11-12 26 <br /> Winners of the essay contest will receive gift cards from Wal-Mart or Target <br /> 4 - $100 <br /> 4 - $75 <br /> 4 - $50 <br /> 11-$25 <br /> Teachers will receive $25 gift card from Office Max. <br />Mele will follow up with Big Island Candies for 23 boxes of candies. Carol and Roxanne will work <br />on the invitation list and invitations. List to include those that CSW will pay their lunches – 11 <br />judges, CSW members, Real Women and winners and one parent and teachers. Others to invite <br />– Mayor, council members, Governor Abercrombie, Colleen Hanabusa, Maize Hirono, Tulsi <br />Gabbard and Brian Schatz. Last year 80 people attended. Collection of monies will be done at <br />the luncheon. <br /> <br />D.Community Reports <br /> <br />Networking – No report. <br /> <br />UNFINISHED BUSINESS <br />A.Project Ideas <br /> <br />Banner project was placed on hold – there should be at least two, if not more, banners.
